Car A/C Compressor Service Video
If the air conditioning system had a heart, the AC compressor would be it. This component keeps refrigerant moving through the system so heat can be pulled from the cabin and released outside the vehicle. Without the compressor, the rest of the air conditioning system cannot do much at all.
The compressor’s job is to take low-pressure refrigerant and compress it into a high-pressure state. That pressurized refrigerant then moves through the rest of the AC system, where heat is removed and cooler air can eventually be sent into the cabin. It is a continuous cycle, and the compressor is what keeps the process moving.
When the AC compressor is not working properly, the system may blow warm air, cool inconsistently, or make unusual noises when the AC is turned on. A failing compressor can also affect other parts of the system because refrigerant circulation is so important to overall air conditioning performance.
